About the Professional

Chris Hall turned professional in 1979 and started PGA training with Roger Hastings at Wollaton Park Golf Club. He became a fully qualified 'class A' Professional in 1982, which also coincided with his first professional win - The Nottinghamshire Professionals Matchplay Championship held at at The Rushcliffe Golf Club.

This victory was quickly followed by numerous other wins including the Nottinghamshire Open Championship and the Douglas Turner Midland Assistants Championship.

A move to Notts Golf Club in 1985 as senior assistant to Brian Waites gave Chris an opportunity to practise his golf skills, but also develop his teaching. In October of that year, he became the Head Professional at Bulwell Forest Golf Club.

Finishing 'runner up' in the 1992 British Club Professionals Championship, Chris qualified to represent England as part of a three-man team in the European Team Championships, and also to represent Europe against the United States of America in the PGA Cup. One year later, Chris improved his previous best performance by shooting a new course record 64 (-9) in the last round to become British Club Professionals Champion. Having gained qualification for the 1994 PGA Cup Team, he was invited to coach on Sky TV and write articles for Golf Monthly.

In May 1995, Chris joined The Rushcliffe Golf Club as Head Professional. He entered the European Tour Qualifying School at the end of the 1995 season, where he successfully gained one of the 40 places available to play on the European Tour. Highlights of the 1996 season included two top-20 positions: 20th in the Italian Open and 19th in the English Open.

"The experience gained from practising and playing with great players
has been invaluable, and has proved a great help with my teaching skills"

A club Medal in April 1996 saw Rushcliffe Member Doug Thornton qualify to play with Chris in the Regional Final of the Lombard Trophy. They won, and went to Portugal to play the National Final were they finished runners up.

The National Volvo Captain/Pro Challenge was an event to be remembered in 1998, when Chris and Rushcliffe Member Ken Fielding won the Regional qualifying at Coxmoor. They later went on to win the final at Wentworth to become National Champions.

Finishing Runner Up in the 1999 British Club Pros Championship qualified Chris for a 3rd appearance in the PGA Cup, together with a place in the England Team for the European Team Championships, which they later won.

To date Chris has broken no less than 21 course records, the lowest score is -10.
